School History

KALIMBA Mathias
Legal Representative

“This school was founded by the association (APAPEC: ASSOCIATION DES PARENTS POUR LA PROMOTION DE L’EDUCATION ET DE LA CULTURE) in 1987 and the association was founded by interested intellectuals originating from 3 former districts: Mugambazi, Mbogo, and Rutongo which were located in actual Rulindo District, in partnership with Rutongo Parish for the purpose of promoting education and culture in the region.

The Association was firstly granted legal status on 17th March 1987 by the Ministry of Justice and conforming to the law No: 04/2012 of the 17th February 2012 regarding Associations in Rwanda, APAPEC was legally recognized again as an association by the Ministry of Local Government on 13th July 2015, as it was published in official gazette no:28 of 13th July 2015.

In 1987, the school GS APAPEC Murambi started with both primary and secondary school as a private school but in 1989 the secondary school stopped working until 1991. It was legally approved as a private school by the then Ministry of education on 17th July 1992, then two years later, the secondary school again stopped working in 1994 due to the outbreak of the Genocide against Tutsi.

In 1996, GS APAPEC Murambi (secondary school) reopened with both ordinary and advanced level with a combination of Humanities ( the former science Humaines).

Later on, GS APAPEC Murambi was approved as a Government-aided school on the 14th March 1997 and then, the first promotion in the combination of Humanities (Sciences Humaines) passed the national examination by the school year 2000/2001.

Currently, the school comprises six combinations namely: HEG, MEG, MCE, MPG, MPC & HEL as well as the ordinary level. With the favorable administrative atmosphere, the school has a number of well experienced teachers who help students to realize and achieve their dreams.”
